Since 2012, CSI Piemonte facilitates the deployment of secure public WiFi hotspots services, entirely built with open source software like OpenWISP, OpenWrt, PfSense and OpenVPN, aimed at municipalities in the region of Piemonte in Italy, enhancing internet accessibility for both citizens and tourists. With a focus on simplicity and user-friendliness, users benefit from an allowance of up to 12 hours or 2GB of data per day, possibility to verify their identity via mobile phone number or authenticate through the Public Digital Identity Service (SPID), ensuring a secure and convenient browsing experience.

Users can register for a free tier Wi-Fi service limited to 100MB with SMS verification, while also having the option to purchase paid bundles of 1GB and 10GB.

This approach not only accelerates the deployment of reliable internet access but also fosters digital inclusion and socio-economic development in marginalized areas.
